First time grandparent @ 41

WOW,

Though I wish my daughter was a lot older, I am very excited about my grandsons arrival. The nine months are just about over for us as she reaches her 7th month. What I couldn't give to my children when they were babies, I will be able to do for my grandchild.

My daughter is due in November. I am 42. I feel the same way about giving the new baby all the things I could not afford to give my children, I plan on giving my grandson everything I can.

My daughter is 19. Her roller coaster ride will begin Nov 12th, the day my grandson will arrive. I cried when she told me she was pregnant, because she is so young. My husband and I meet the baby's father’s parents and discussed what we wanted for our children and what we wanted for our grandchild. Just when we got over that hurdle, my daughter had a test done at the doctor’s office, which came back with an abnormal reading. It appeared that the baby might have spinal bifida. She was sent to a high risk pregnancy physician that would confirm the baby was intact, and healthy. She will now have to be monitored by two physicians because of the abnormal test result. Her blood pressure will have to be monitored. She is at risk of preeclampsia. So now that this hold drama has aged me 40 years more, we can concentrate on the arrival again.

The baby's father is a very bright, hardworking young man, with a lot of potential. He is what every parent would want in a son n law. He is a very mature 22 years old. They’ve been dating for 2 years, so they weren’t strangers when this happened. None the less, they are still young. He is just finishing up collage, and she will have to put her collage plans on hold for a short while, but I have a gut feeling they’re going to make it. And my husband and I, as well as his parents want them both to have collage degrees. My daughter has her family foundation, and he has his, so combined they will succeed. So for now we are focusing on the positives of this crazy situation, WE’RE HAVE A HEALTY GRANDSON COMING!

Congrats to the new grandparents.

My SsIL is 41 and already has 9 grandbabies.

I am 42 and just had a baby in April.

IT IS AMAZING!!!! MY GRANDDAUGHTER IS 8 MONTHS OLD, AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT I DID WITHOUT HER. IT'S JUST LIKE BEFORE YOU HAVE A BABY AND NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN TO YOU WHAT IT FEELS LIKE BEING A MOTHER.

BEING A GRANDMA IS THE SAME, THERE IS NO FEELING LIKE IT IN THE WORLD. I DO BUY HER AND GIVE HER THINGS THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO GIVE MY CHILDREN ( I HAVE 7).

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH HER, ITS SO NICE NOT TO BE THE DISCIPLINARIAN, I JUST LOVE HER, AND DOTE ON HER. IN MY EYES SHE CAN DO NO WRONG.

I EXPLAINED IT TO MY FRIENDS THIS WAY, WHEN PEOPLE COMMENTED MY CHILDREN WERE SO CUTE, I WOULD SAY OH, YOU THINK? THANK YOU. BUT WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER WHEN PEOPLE SAY SHE'S JUST BEAUTIFUL, I SAY YES, I KNOW!!! LOL

YOU ARE COMING INTO ONE OF THE BEST TIMES OF YOUR LIFE, I WAS 41 WHEN I BECAME A GRANDMA, AND I PROUDLY HOLD THAT TITLE. HOLD ON, YOUR IN FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE.

sounds like you have a happy story there!!! my daughter is 16 with a baby girl due in april. I was shocked! there is no guy in the picture, let's just say he's a loser.... O,and did i mention I'm only 33?

Wow, the news must have been a shock to you. :( Are you supporting your daughter and the baby when that time comes? Have you talked about what she's going to do school-wise, etc, after the birth?
